Meeting notes… till 2.10 pm

We have a short meeting tomorrow at 1h 30 pm to talk about :

1. Update the proposal ( by April 21)
2.  Pending funding confirmation ( by April 28 )
3.  Figure out the tax implications of receiving funding

Their final decisions will be announced by May 15.

And we’d like to have Josee-Anne from the first meeting so that we can organize well further-events.

We’ll need to have next meeting with Harry, Patric, and Michael to get some advice for the architecture side and more.

Desh explained the set to Patrick
Patrick is asking questions and sketching out
15 feet of diameter (not a standard sheet -4×8) for a pure seamless surface several thousand $$
suggesting a sandblast of acrilic polycarbonate  thermoformed (heat + form)
calculate weight approx : 2 Tons
vaccume form for such big surfaces
make it into peices
suggest doing the drawings and presenting it to different people
logistics - difficult to transport
window companies (i.e. skylight at the olympic stadium)
sandblast a skylight or get it manifactured
signs company specialized in acriligs
construction happens in the US
getting the materials and then water

water nnot to hold an image but to make a boundary and for acoustics
one month to experiment here and then another month to experiment there

where is the water coming from the ground, suspended
3-4 to maintain the pressure properly

Heat-seal PVC tubing
control the timing is ok

control the shape and the edge of the rim
integrate the tubing to the dome
all dependent on the dome

2nd option is to go with a concave surface

polyurethane search interesting to patrick as well
light will sink naturally

aluminum or steal (cheap right now) ring
suggesting aluminum lighter and easyer to work with
will blow the budget as well

the most sensible thing is to create a concave surface

? could put water in the dome if it is concave

poly tetra urethane  - strong and stretch can retain a lot of pressure
hard to find, not too expensive

make a giant inflatable lens
of 2 surfaces thus creating cancave-convex surface

What is a better price range?
a lot of looking up to do
variety of domes that could be done
5000 to 7000 for the Dome + rest total 10 000

for the next round of EMPAC
evaluate fesability

friend of patrick could help with the pricing
ask Gregory

as far as the base is concerned, the most subtle as possible
water, circulation, screens - stable

the screens on stands is weak suggesting welding and having a base that is as wide as possible
platform to integrate and have a wider base.
